Tummy Shield Crash Test Videos

If you see any parts of these videos in relation to any other product, it is being inaccurately used and a copyright violation. These crash tests are ONLY in relation to the Tummy Shield. As far as we’ve been able to find, Tummy Shield is the ONLY crash tested pregnancy seat belt adjuster.

The manufacturer did many rounds of crash testing during development to perfect the engineering and safety results from the Tummy Shield.

A side view of a test comparing the use of the Tummy Shield to using just the seat belt. Tummy Shield prevents submarining under the seat belt.

Why is there an extra loose strap around the crash dummy? This was the first time Calspan crash tested Tummy Shield. It's standard protocol at Calspan to add a restraint to the dummy when they test a product they are unfamiliar with. The band is positioned in a way to not influence the results of the test but basically just to make sure the dummy doesn't go flying across the lab if the product fails.

As you can see, the Tummy Shield successfully restrains the occupant, while also eliminating the submarining motion under the lap belt and lessening the amount the occupant essentially folds in half.
